cutotmix entourages: cutoutpeople, copyrights, social norm & activism
cutoutmix: a free open platform as an answer to the growing need for more equal and diverse cutouts populating design renders.
/
The goal of this project is to offer a new figurative environment for contemporary architectural drawings, embracing a peaceful, diverse, equal and inclusive vision of the designed future. It’s original and open sharing proposal stand also for no copyright infringements policy (characters are way too often borrowed from well-known works of art).
Two free sets of 437 bold figures whose work transcends old clichés and trite gender stereotypes to present a collection marked by energy and cutting edge design, conscious of how much the choice of cutouts reveals about social norm. Original and authentic faceless photographs and two-dimensional illustrative figures, openly against trite gender stereotyped characters while offering broader and more realistic silhouettes reflecting inclusive contemporary life; all available in a variety of skin colour, different ability and a wider gender spectrum. Collaboration with Claudia Manenti and Ilenia Perlotti visual designers.

MORE INFO
Cutoutmix supports new galleries of silhouettes promoting a contemporary, diverse and inclusive vision of the world of design. At its centre are strong, creative women whose work transcends old clichés and trite stereotypes to present a collection marked by energy and cutting edge design, conscious of how much the choice of cutouts reveals about social norm.
Two free sets are currently available (Calendar and Archifunky), which will soon grow at the hands of different artists. They are fully accessible open source under Creative Commons License (allowing free access provided it is credited).
Skin colour, different ability and a wider gender spectrum are central to the latest collection, ARCHIFUNKY, (264 cutouts) men doing the ironing, girls playing with bow and arrow, mixed race families, same sex couples, Alejandra out for a stroll with her guide dog, Rachel reading sitting in her wheelchair. All available in a variety of shades, from beige to brown to shocking pink, these new cutouts come to come to life with minimal, slight style through a process of synthesis enriched with technical patterns and mundane accessories.
CALENDAR (available also in a limited printed version) is the gallery launching the platform, built in ccoperation with visual artist Claudia Manenti www.claudiamanenti.com . It offers a new interpretation for the anonymous characters of architectural renderings based on original and authentic faceless photographs breaking away from tired photorealistic cutouts. Twelve female silhouettes are dressed for the appropriate season and brought to life in quirky mini-stories by Giovanna Bosis (Italian/irish creative writer). These calendar girls are folllowed by surprising men, Fab Boys, male cutouts in the same style (20 cutouts) .
