Un cantiere in Valtroncea

Winter 2005/2006. I began taking photographs in the construction site of a new development in Pragelato. The object was to fix the evolution of the work following its phases through to completion. Day after day the images brought me back to the skill, effort and ingenuity of the workers, the anonymous protagonists of the building endeavour. Not only that: the place itself, the climate and the light of such setting in contact with the colours of the Alps, transformed the workers’ hard daily tasks in magical visions. In the aesthetic play of space, materials and colours, light emerged as the leading actor in each photograph. Its clarity and purity gave consistency to the shapes, its crystalline reflections made real the perception of the frozen earth so near by. And the beauty of the nature inhabiting these places, both poignant and exhilarating, was able to envelop the unfinished human construction and animate it with freedom and enchantment.

The aim of this collection is to narrate the moment of construction of an architectonic creation through the emotions it evokes. The reason for this is that being architects entails a deep desire to communicate the passion this profession gives.

Inverno 2005/2006. Scattare immagini all`interno del cantiere di un nuovo intervento a Pragelato.                      L ‘obbiettivo era di fissare l evoluzione del lavoro per seguirne le fasi di realizzazione. Giorno dopo giorno, le immagini mi hanno rimandato alla abilità, gli sforzi e l’ inventiva dei lavoratori, protagonisti anonimi dell’ impresa del costruire. Ma non solo: la concretezza del luogo, il clima e la luce di questa realtà a contatto con i colori delle Alpi, hanno trasformato il lavoro quotidiano e faticoso degli operai in visioni di magia. Nel gioco estetico tra spazi, materiali e colori, la luce è apparsa in ogni fotogramma come primo attore: la sua limpidezza e purezza ha dato consistenza alle forme, i suoi riflessi cristallini hanno reso concreta la percezione della vicina terra congelata. E la bellezza struggente e parimenti esaltante della natura che abita questi luoghi, è riuscita ad avvolgere le incompiute opere umane, ad animarle di libertà e fascino.

Questa raccolta si propone di raccontare il momento della realizzazione di un opera architettonica attraverso le emozioni che suscita, poiche` nell’essere architetti esiste un profondo desiderio di trasmettere la passione che questa professione ci infonde.
